It will be shown on the late-night programming block Toonami on the Adult Swim network.

Uzumaki will be available to stream on Crunchyroll upon its release.

It has voice acting roles for Uki Satake as Kirie Goshima and Shin’ichiro Miki as Shuichi Saito. Airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami, Uzumaki Season 1 is produced entirely in monochrome by Japanese animation studio Drive. Composing the music is multi-instrumentalist Colin Stetson. Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Junji Ito, Uzumaki Season 1 spans across four episodes.The series is directed by Hiroshi Nagahama. The first season is produced by Production I.G and Adult Swim. Uzumaki Season 1 is an upcoming psychological horror anime mini-TV series. Shuichi and Kirie are at the center of climactic events that question their very perception of reality. Obsessed with the vision of spiral shapes in everything, the clouds, the trees, skin and hair, the town goes slowly insane. They witness how the spiral affects the people around them, both physically and psychologically, as the town itself is damned by an uncontrollable force. Kirie Goshima and her boyfriend Shuichi Saito are high-school teenagers in the town. The story follows high school student Kirie Goshima and her boyfriend, Shuichi Saito, as they attempt to escape the city and its spiral curse.The city of Kurouzu-cho is cursed by a supernatural force that manifests in the continued symbol of the spiral. Following a series of natural disasters, the town descends into madness as the spiral patterns grow more and more prevalent. Uzumaki is set in Kurouzo-Cho, an isolated seaside town that is afflicted with a strange curse that causes spiral patterns to appear everywhere, inspiring paranoia and fear within the town's residents. The teaser begins with Nagahama apologizing for the delay in the series' release and explaining the impact that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had on the anime industry. Uzumaki is directed by Hiroshi Nagahama, best known for his work on Revolutionary Girl Utena, Fruits Basket and Mushishi, as well as The Reflection, a 2017 anime he co-created with comic book legend Stan Lee.

The series is being co-produced by Adult Swim and Production IG USA, with animation production provided by Studio Drive, which previously produced the vampire comedy Vlad Love.
